This project consists of a new two-storey secondary school (57,000ft2) and includes a library, computer/robotics lab, music room, kitchen, hospitability & nutrition room, drama/music room, cafetorium, stage, elevator and gymnasium.

Unique Challenges Overcome on the Project:

  • Unexpected soil conditions and sanitary structures were encountered onsite during the foundation and site services scope of work. These issues were handled in cooperation with project team to minimize cost and maintain schedule.
  • JR Certus assisted with the process to obtain a conditional permit to continue with foundation and site services work, immediately mobilizing to site to avoid schedule impacts.
  • This work, which included site demolition, pole removals, new duct banks, cut/fill, granular, curbs & sidewalks, asphalt and line painting, was completed in 8 weeks.

One third of the siteworks needed to be turned over to the Halton District School Board (owner of the neighbouring school) for Phase #1, with a deadline of 6th September 2016 for the school year.
